Discipline v Three platforms, compared

Vascular and pigment correction.

The targeted treatment of melasma, sun damage, rosacea, broken capillaries, and visible vasculature. A comparative reference on the FDA-cleared platforms that define the category.

§ 01
The category, defined

Vascular and pigment correction addresses two related but distinct concerns. Vascular concerns include rosacea, broken capillaries, port-wine stains, and visible facial veins. Pigment concerns include sun damage, age spots, freckles, and melasma. The two often present together, which is why the leading platforms are designed to treat both.

Melasma deserves a particular note. It is a notoriously stubborn condition that can be made worse by aggressive treatment. The wrong platform, or the right platform at the wrong setting, can trigger the post-inflammatory response that drives the very pigmentation the patient is trying to remove. Melasma management is a category in which experience matters more than equipment.

Editorial note

Melasma is often misdiagnosed as ordinary sun damage and treated with IPL, which can deepen the condition rather than improve it. The accurate identification of the underlying lesion, before any treatment is selected, is the part of the process that distinguishes a serious provider from a casual one. This is why every prospective client receives an in-person Free Customized Treatment Plan.
